Children´s Dental Services Sửa

Pediatric dentistry is a specialized field dedicated to oral healthcare for children, from the eruption of their primary teeth to adulthood. Timely dental interventions help children maintain a beautiful smile with well-aligned teeth and a correct bite, which in turn enhances their confidence throughout their developmental years.

Key Facts About Children's Oral Health Care

0254719943jn1

  • The treatment age range is from infancy to adolescence.
  • Children differ significantly from adults in terms of anatomy, physiology, medication absorption, and especially psychology: children cannot articulate their problems, have shorter attention spans, and visit the dentist not based on their own needs but rather at the request of their parents. Therefore, specialized skills and different approaches are necessary when treating children compared to adults.
  • Pediatric dental services should focus on providing the best immediate benefits for children while also preventing future dental issues.
  • Comprehensive care is essential for children, with prevention always being the top priority.

Why should children's dental treatment be a priority?

Because the primary teeth in children are extremely important!

  • Proper oral hygiene:Brushing teeth, using dental floss, and choosing age-appropriate toothbrushes and toothpaste.
  • Cavity prevention:Using fluoride toothpaste, fluoride-releasing filling materials, and applying fluoride varnish regularly to protect children's teeth.
  • Sealing pits and fissures on permanent molars:Sealants are commonly applied to all newly erupted permanent molars in children at high risk, such as those with a history of multiple cavities in their primary teeth or those who have had cavities in their permanent teeth.

Managing Active Dental Caries in Children

Treatment in a Single Appointment:General anesthesia may be used 1-2 times to thoroughly and definitively treat the carious lesions (typically performed in hospitals).

In-Clinic Treatment (on the dental chair):

  • Gradually clean and fill the cavities over multiple visits using materials such as GIC, IRM, or Eugenolate.
  • Restore the tooth’s function and shape.
  • Stop the decay from progressing and minimize its impact on the dental pulp using Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)

Using Space Maintainers for Early Loss of Primary Teeth

A space maintainer is a special dental appliance used to preserve space in the dental arch when primary teeth are lost prematurely in children. This ensures that there is enough room for the permanent teeth to erupt in the correct position, helping the child achieve a beautiful, well-aligned smile. The choice of space maintainer depends primarily on the condition of the teeth and the child's age.

Treatment of Pulpal Diseases in Primary Teeth

Irreversible Pulpitis

Irreversible pulpitis is a condition where the pulp tissue inside the tooth becomes infected, leading to increased pressure within the pulp chamber and root canals, which compresses the nerves. This often results in significant pain for the child.

In such cases, pulp treatment for primary teeth is essential to relieve the pain and plays a critical role in preserving the primary tooth and maintaining its function.

Treating pulp diseases in primary teeth is always more challenging compared to adults due to several factors: children are often less cooperative, they have limited mouth opening, there is a risk of damaging the permanent tooth bud, behavior management is required during the treatment, and there are significant anatomical differences from permanent teeth.

Pulp Necrosis Without Apical Complications

This is the most common type of pulp condition in primary teeth among children. Typically, children do not experience pain in such cases, which often leads parents to overlook the issue, only discovering it at a later stage when complications have developed around the root apex.
Treatment Approach:
Root Canal Treatment: This is the standard method for managing necrotic pulp. The process involves accessing the root canal system, removing all infected pulp tissue from the canal, disinfecting, shaping, and cleaning the root canals, and then sealing the space with a biocompatible material.
Restoration of the Tooth After Root Canal Treatment:
A prefabricated crown is the most effective solution to restore the tooth’s original form after root canal treatment. This allows the child to retain the tooth for chewing, maintaining its size and preventing space loss in teeth with proximal cavities.
Pulp Necrosis with Apical Complications
At this stage, children typically experience significant pain, which is why many seek treatment only when the condition has advanced. This usually occurs when the tooth is in the physiological resorption stage of the root. Treatment in such cases may require combining antibiotic therapy with root canal treatment treatment for teeth that have not yet reached the stage of exfoliation and can still be preserved.

4 Operating Areas

  • Area 1: Cleaning and Disinfection
  • Area 2: Instrument Packaging
  • Area 3: Sterilization through Autoclaving
  • Area 4: Storage and Preservation

Combining the standards set by the Ministry of Health and global knowledge of sterilization practices in surgery, the sterilization protocol at Vietnam Dental Travel is a result of years of research and personal experience by Dr. Dang Trieu Hung, MD, PhD. to ensure that the dental environment remains clean, safe, and free from cross-contamination. The protocol is built around three key highlights:

  • Closed-loop process: one-way flow from used to clean instruments
  • Dividing the entire sterilization process into 4 distinct zones; each staff member is thoroughly trained to follow the 8-step sterilization process meticulously, as required by regulations. We place a strong emphasis on checking the expiration date and monitoring the storage temperature of each instrument set.
  • Modern equipment, regularly inspected and maintained.

We understand that safety is the greatest concern when choosing a healthcare solution. Our 23-year journey of empathizing with every concern of our clients has been the foundation that allows Herident to serve with dedication and grow stronger to this day.
